Khamenei was the leader of Iran since 1989, taking over after the death of Ruhollah Khomeini who had secured the Shia Islamist faction's ascendancy after the 1979 revolution. Over the weekend, the US and Israel carried out a series of strikes against Iran. 

At the time of the strikes the US had been negotiating with the Islamic Republic about its nuclear program, with Trump previously threatening action if they didn't reach an agreement. Following the US and Israeli attacks, which hit multiple cities across Iran including Tehran, the country responded with missile and drone attacks across the region. 

Early on Sunday, Iranian officials confirmed that Khamenei had been killed in the strikes, and the Iranian government has now vowed to avenge him.

Iranian parliamentary speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf gave a televised address on Sunday, calling the US 'filthy criminals'. He said: “You have crossed our red line and must pay the price. "We will deliver such devastating blows that you yourselves will be driven to beg.” But Trump has now threatened more action against Iran if it retaliates further. 

Taking to his social media platform Truth Social, Trump wrote: “Iran just stated that they are going to hit very hard today, harder than they have ever hit before." He then went on to threaten further action if Iran were to retaliate, writing: "THEY BETTER NOT DO THAT, HOWEVER, BECAUSE IF THEY DO, WE WILL HIT THEM WITH A FORCE THAT HAS NEVER BEEN SEEN BEFORE! Thank you for your attention to this matter!"

Iran has been ruled by the Islamic Republic since the revolution of 1979. The current hardline Islamist government was able to seize power after a popular uprising against the Shah, Mohammad Reza Pahlavi. 

Pahlavi was a pro-western dictator installed after democratically-elected socialist Mohammad Mosaddegh was overthrown in a coup orchestrated by the UK and US after he nationalised British oil interests in the country. Since seizing power the Islamic Republic has pursued hardline conservative policies including forcing women to cover their hair, and having severe punishment for things like drinking alcohol, as well as responding violently to protests against the regime. 

The government has also actively sought to expand its influence in the Middle East, including through its Revolutionary Guard Corps and Quds Force. This has also included proxy groups including Hezbollah in Lebanon and also Syria, and Kataib Hezbollah in Iraq.

Ever since the memoir was published on Tuesday (24 February), fans have been discussing the jaw-dropping details and stories the TV personality has shared - and it's proved that she's certainly not afraid to name-drop.  She talked about her time on the NBC show, where she played Billie Reed from 1992 to 1995 and reprised the role multiple times in the decades that followed.

However, according to the actress, things weren't all smooth sailing behind the scenes as she claimed that Robert Kelker-Kelly, who played her on-screen love interest Bo Brady, made her life 'a living hell'.

According to MailOnline, she penned in her book: "Behind the scenes, we hated each other. Remember when Kathy Hilton said I was the biggest bully in Hollywood? Not true. Not even close! I have legit stories about the real bullies in this town."

She claimed that Kelker-Kelly was 'one of those bullies', adding: "He made my life a living hell on the set of Days. He was horrible to me. I’d go so far as to say verbally abusive. He was passive-aggressive, manipulative, and played weird mind games." Rinna further alleged that he would give her the 'silent treatment' if she 'didn’t do what he wanted' in scenes. 

Calling him a 'ticking time bomb', the reality TV star continued: "I never knew when I arrived on set each morning if I’d get nice Robert Kelker-Kelly or dark Robert Kelker-Kelly. He was unpredictable, and it was exhausting." The actress was reportedly relieved when he departed the show in 1995 and was replaced by Peter Reckell, who had originally played the role of Bo Brady from 1983 to 1992.

She then claimed that after his exit, Rinna and her co-star, Kristian Alfonso, who played Hope Brady, another love interest of the actress, were given their own security team by NBC. However, Rinna made it clear she thought this was unnecessary, as Kelker-Kelly wasn't a threat. 

She explained: "Suddenly, one day, he disappeared from the Days set. Next thing I knew, Kristian and I had our own full-time security detail. "I wasn't worried about physical harm, but NBC had to cover their ass. We had rent-a-cops parked outside out houses and trailers for three weeks and were driven to and from work." It's actually not the first time Rinna has spoken out about Kelker-Kelly, as she previously claimed in 2015 that they had butted heads.

Not mincing her words, the Real Housewives of Beverley Hills star told Bravo: "I hated Robert Kelker-Kelly; hated him with a passion! "He hated me with a passion. We were a volatile combination, and it looked like love and sexual chemistry on camera, so that was some darn good acting right there." 

After appearing on Days of Our Lives, Kelker-Kelly went on to play Stavros Cassadine in General Hospital from 2001 to 2003 and from 2013 to 2014. However, he has since left the acting business and become a pilot, later transitioning to captain and aircraft manager.

The 64-year-old The Mask actor rocked up to the 51st edition of the Cesar Film Awards ceremony in Paris on Thursday (26 February), with the event marking his first public appearance since November of last year. 

Carrey could be seen donning a hairstyle noticeably longer than what many fans are used to, but he was still rocking his signature hair part. It seems quite a few fans reckoned Carrey looked 'unrecognisable', but the star has since been defended as people flocked to social media to gush over how 'happy' he looked.

"[He looks] unrecognisable," penned one X user while another claimed: "You can't even recognise him anymore." A third questioned: "Why does he look like an old version of his younger self, but not just regular old him, Carrey? I can’t explain it." "Is that actually him?" echoed a fourth while a fifth declared: "I don’t know what it is, but he looks different."

Others, as we say, were far less bothered about his apparent appearance change with a sixth beaming: "Good to see him all smiles!" "We love to see Jim this happy and at peace," gushed another. And a final X user praised: "He's looking good." 

During yesterday's awards ceremony, Canadian-American actor Carrey received a special honour, a Cesar d'honneur, in recognition of his acting career. He accepted the tribute with a speech delivered in French with a thick American accent.

Carrey then revealed that 'about 300 years ago, (his) great, great, great, great, great, great-grandfather, Marc-François Carré, yes, Carré, was born in France, in Saint Malo' before emigrating to Canada. "Tonight, with this magnificent honour, this square (carré in French) has come full circle," he said.

Carrey attended the awards ceremony with his daughter Jane, grandson Jackson and girlfriend Mina. "Thank you to my wonderful family, my daughter Jane, and my grandson Jackson. I love you now and forever. Thank you to my sublime companion, Mina. I love you, Mina.  

And finally, thank you to the funniest man I have ever known: my father. Percy Joseph Carrey, who taught me the value of love, generosity, and laughter," he rounded off. After finishing up his speech, he jokingly asked the audience: "So, how was my French? Almost mediocre, right? Forgive me, I didn’t speak French, but I’m just learning it. My tongue is tired." 

But his job role wasn’t the only thing to have been newly adopted, as in the end-credits, Maddox was listed with a totally new persona – with his name seemingly being changed. Now, he can be seen as Maddox Jolie, instead of his birth name: Maddox Jolie-Pitt. 

The choice to drop Pitt comes less than a year after his sister, Shiloh, also did the same thing as soon as she turned into an adult. Previously, Maddox featured his Jolie-Pitt surname when he was listed as Angelina’s director assistant when he directed the biopic, Maria in 2024.

While Maddox and Shiloh seem to have changed their name, their sister Vivienne has also been credited as ‘Vivienne Jolie’ in professional projects, and Zahara also dropped ‘Pitt’ when previously introducing herself at a college event- which leaves Pax, 22, and Knox, 17, the only kids left to do the same. 

The name changes come after Angelina filed a law suit against her ex-husband Brad in 2022, claiming he had been abusive towards her and their children during a flight in 2016 which led to their public divorce. The filing alleged that Brad had 'choked' one of their six children on the private jet, and 'struck another in the face'. It also alleged Brad had 'grabbed' Angelina 'by the head', and 'poured beer and red wine on the children'. However, Brad's legal team has maintained his innocence since.

Brad and Angelina initially began their relationship in 2006, before getting married in 2014 and splitting 2016 due to 'irreconcilable differences'. When it came to Shiloh, her ability to change her name took place after a legal ruling dictated she could go from Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt, to Shiloh Jolie.

Having begun to take the steps to change her name the year before, per a statement released at the time by her lawyer Peter Levine, she had done so ‘following painful events’. Levine told People at the time: "The media should be more careful in their reporting, especially when covering a young adult who has made an independent and significant decision following painful events, and is merely following legal process." 

He added: "As Shiloh's attorney, I am required to publish a legal notice because the law in California requires that of anyone who wants to change their name. "That legal notice was published in The Los Angeles Times, as is required." 

In Donald Trump’s first term, she started a safety initiative called Be Best to keep children safe online, and in 2021, when Trump lost his second election attempt to former president Joe Biden, she bid farewell to the programme, stating: “Over the past two years, Be Best has played a major role in spreading awareness, highlighting successful programs and acts of kindness, and encouraging public-private sector relationships to help children overcome the struggles they face every day.” 

But now she’s taking her security efforts to the next level as she’s now sitting on the United Nations Security Council.

The UN Security Council consists of 15 member states, with five members who hold a permanent seat. Those are ambassadors from the United States, China, France, the Russian Federation, and the United Kingdom. On top of that, there are10 non-permanent members who get elected to represent their nation and gain a seat for two-year terms, such as Bahrain, Colombia, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Denmark, and Somalia. 

According to Fox News, Melania will preside over the Council, which marks the first time any first lady in history from any country, will have done so. The UN Security Council is a board that focuses on education, technology, peace, and cyber as well as physical security. As for what Melania will focus on first in her speech to the Council, the outlet reported that a source revealed she’s set on ‘empowering the next generation’.

"The first lady is reinventing her role and this marks just another groundbreaking achievement for her," the source allegedly said. "It is the first time in history a first lady will address the security council, keeping to her mission of empowering the next generation with education and technology." 

As for how sitting members have reacted to Melania’s new role, the US Ambassador to the United Nations Michael Waltz said it’s ‘fitting that the first lady, a passionate and tireless advocate for children, will preside over the first day of America’s presidency of the Security Council.’ He added: “Her message of helping the helpless through education and technology fits exactly with our mission at the U.N., to achieve meaningful and lasting peace. 

"As a green beret and now diplomat, I have seen firsthand that peace prevails where children are taught and not terrorised." In her role, she is thought to be picking up her Be Best initiative, and her Take it Down Act, which was signed into law in May 2025, which punishes online predators for sending non-consensual sexual content.

After Trump’s eldest daughter, Ivanka, 44, took to social media on 24 February to share a whole family photo, people were stuck on one big detail – Barron's height. 

The 19-year-old is the president's youngest child and his only one with First Lady Melania, easily spotted at any event as he towers over his brothers and sisters, as well as his mom and dad, at a gargantuan 6ft 7ins. 

As the teen often avoids his father's political events, he surprised many when he turned up at the State of the Union in a show of Trump family unity alongside his mom and half brothers and sisters, Tiffany, Donald Trump Jr, Eric, and Ivanka. 

But despite showing up for his father Donald Trump, a lip reader did notice a moment of family rancour during the almost two-hour divisive speech, with Barron apparently giving Ivanka a rude response to a cryptic question.

Lip reader Jeremy Freeman told the Mirror that he noticed the siblings having a quiet conversation while President Trump wheeled through a seismic and controversial year in America's domestic and international politics. Freeman said that he detected Ivanka, 44, asking her younger sibling 'What are you doing on...?', though he did not catch the initial context or subject matter of her probing question.

But in a reply that is no doubt familiar to big sisters around the world, Freeman says that Barron gave a particularly surly retort that began with the New York University student saying 'I'm not sure...'. Then he added four rude words to his response. "I couldn't be a***d," Barron apparently told Ivanka. Freeman was not the only one to notice that Barron and Ivanka had something of a dynamic during the State of the Union, which at an hour and 47 minutes in length was the longest in American history.

Body language expert Judi James told the Daily Mail that the rare sighting of all five Trump children in one place showed a new dynamic among the siblings, with their posture revealing that Barron and Ivanka could become a new force in the family. 

She said: "Barron and Ivanka seemed to have formed a new sibling power couple, sitting side by side, with Barron looking watchful and serious while Ivanka chatted to him until they were engaged together in some ongoing conversation." 

Meanwhile, Charlie Kirk's widow, Erika, also received the lipreading treatment, as she was seen mouthing a three-word phrase when President Trump paid tribute to her late husband, who died on September 10, 2025.

With the country’s gold medal-winning hockey team even making an appearance, Trump spoke about the likes of Iran, tariffs and the economy. But while Trump’s State of the Union was going on, so was a counter-address; ‘The State of the Swamp’. Attended by the likes of Don Lemon and Mark Ruffalo, Robert De Niro headlined the event. 

According to the event's organisers, Defiance.org, it was ‘focused on defying Donald Trump's abuses of power, including officials who previously advised Trump’. And, along with comments he made on a podcast released the day before, Hollywood icon De Niro is now facing threats of deportation.

Trump has accused the Goodfellas actor of ‘Trump derangement’. Born in New York, the 82-year-old has been outspoken for the past decade or so about Trump and criticised him and his MAGA supporters during the episode of MSNBC’s The Best People with Nicole Wallace podcast. “He’s an idiot. We gotta get rid of him. He’s gonna ruin the country,” De Niro said. 

The star went on to add: “I don’t want everybody going around with their MAGA, the American flags, like they’re the only ones. We are Americans too.” During his emotional speech at the State of the Swamp event, he described the president as ‘failing, flailing and desperate’.

And yesterday, Trump went on a fiery rant as he labelled the Heat actor as ‘demented’ in a Truth Social post. He proposed deporting Reps Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib who left the Capitol building early on Tuesday after shouting him down during his speech.

Calling them ‘lunatics’, the president went on to write: “They should actually get on a boat with Trump Deranged Robert De Niro, another sick and demented person with, I believe, an extremely Low IQ, who has absolutely no idea what he is doing or saying — some of which is seriously CRIMINAL!” He continued: 

“When I watched him break down in tears last night, much like a child would do, I realised that he may be even sicker than Crazy Rosie O’Donnell, who is right now in Ireland trying to figure out how to come back into our beautiful United States.” 

Trump claimed the ‘only difference’ between the actor and comedian is that she is ‘probably somewhat smarter’. “The good news is that America is now Bigger, Better, Richer, and Stronger than ever before, and it’s driving them absolutely crazy! PRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP,” he added in his post.

What is ‘Trump derangement’?

A term coined by MAGA supporters, 'Trump derangement' is often used to describe critics of Donald Trump. It appears to be an adaptation of 'Bush derangement syndrome', a phrase dubbed by conservative columnist Charles Krauthammer during George W Bush's presidency in 2003. 

Writing about 'Trump derangement syndrome' for the Therapy Group of DC, psychologist Brad Brenner, PhD, noted that it 'discredits rather than describes and its very existence shows how political language can blur the line between clinical insight and partisan insult'. 

The president himself has regularly used the phrase to describe his political opponents and sparked backlash after claiming filmmaker Rob Reiner's death was linked to 'Trump derangement syndrome'.

Escobar is perhaps the most famous drug lord of all time, having built the Medellín Cartel, and that unsurprisingly made him an incredibly rich man. Most sensible folks would know better than going anywhere near Escobar's hard-earned cash but one lucky, or unlucky, farmer wasn't left with much choice after discovering $600 million on his family ranch. 

Josè Mariena Cartolos was in the middle of making a trench for irrigation purposes when he discovered several contained filled to the brim with money, which might not have been the cleanest in the most literal or figurative sense. 

Despite making the discovery in 2015, more than 20 years after Escobar's death, Cartolos clearly didn't want to be in debt to anyone still close to the legendary criminal, as he alerted the authorities almost immediately despite discovering over half a billion dollars.

Unfortunately for him, and for Escobar's associates, the authorities decided to seize every penny, without leaving him anything, so he's probably kicking himself for being so honest when he could have at least got himself a new tractor. 

Instead, it was spent on social and economic programs by the Colombian government, MTV Lebanon previously reported, which I suppose is a nice way to spend it too, even if Escobar might have been rolling in his grave. Reacting on Reddit, plenty of people admitted that they might not have been so honest if they found themselves in a similar situation.

One person on Reddit wrote: "Never would’ve said a word. Would’ve loaded that up and been gone." Another added: "Why would he report it? I’d be living the high life right now." A third joked: "I'd invoke the law of finders keepers." And a fourth laughed: "Dude won the lottery and and said 'no thank you.'" 

Others reckoned that Cartolos definitely did the right thing, especially as the Pablo Escobar is supposedly the rightful owner of the cash. "Finding a stash that belongs to a cartel is a 'I'm f***ed' situation," one person commented. 

"The first question is: how do I get out of that alive?" Another chimed in saying: "Any Colombian farmer would know better than to advertise this lol." And a third pointed out: "I promise you that you would have no idea what to do with $600m in illegal cash."

 

For those in need of a reminder, 44-year-old Ivanka is the second of the three children the President welcomed with late wife, Ivana. The couple also shared Donald Jr, 48, and Eric, 42, until their mother's death in 2022. 

Whilst married to Ivana, Republican frontman Trump had an affair with model and actress Marla Maples (whom he later wed, and subsequently divorced) which resulted in the birth of his second daughter, Tiffany, 32. With third wife, Melania Trump - the current First Lady to the United States - 79-year-old Trump shares one son, his youngest, Barron.

The baby of the brood, Barron is just 19. Despite currently enrolled as a student at NYU's Stern School of Business, the teen made an appearance alongside Donald Jr, Ivanka and Tiffany in Washington D.C. on Tuesday (24 Feb), where they attended their father's the State of the Union address. 

A family photo that businesswoman Ivanka shared prior to the address - which also included her husband, Jared Kushner, Donald Jr's fiancée Bettina Anderson, Tiffany's husband Michael Boulos - featured Barron smiling on the end. 

It wasn't just his rare public appearance that prompted online discussion after the snap was shared on X (formerly Twitter), however, but Barron's absolutely staggering height. Responding to the image, one social media user joked: "Barron is 12 foot tall."

"Yo they don't make XXXXXL ties," another teased. "He's so damn tall. Unreal!" A third also jibed: "Baron is an absolute unit." The Palm Beach Post previously reported that Barron stands somewhere between 6'7 and 6'9 tall, making him by far the tallest of his siblings. The youngster even towers above his parents, with right-wing leader Trump being 6'3'', and 55-year-old Melania being 5'11.

The First Lady was also in attendance alongside Barron and his stepchildren yesterday, where her husband delivered a 1 hour and 48 minute speech - the longest of its kind in modern history. 

Trump's latest public pledge focussed heavily on a self-declared 'economic turnaround', as well as his hardline stance on immigration and foreign policy, which comes amid slumping Republican approval ratings and approaching midterm elections.

The former prince has faced much scandal in the last couple of years ever since Virginia Giuffre’s sexual abuse lawsuit was levied against him, accusing him of also being closely affiliated with convicted peadophile, Jeffrey Epstein. 

Since then, things have only gotten worse with the release of millions of files by the US Department of Justice, which saw Andrew named and pictured countless times. Now, with his titles stripped and even being arrested on his 66th birthday just last week (19 February), things are ramping up for the brother of the King.

But you might be shocked (or not) to know that Andrew is far from the first member of the Royal family to face legal troubles. Here is a list of all members who have been caught by the police for one reason or another: 

King Charles I 

King Charles I, who reigned in the 1600s, was brought to trial in Westminster Hall on 20 January 1649, after the English civil war came to a close. It was there that he was charged with treason and tyranny, where he argued that a court did not hold authority over him and therefore, could not charge him. Well, they did, and ended up sending him to his death on 26 January, beheading him days later at the Banqueting House in Whitehall, London. 

Mary, Queen of Scots 

Before King Charles I, came Queen of Scots, who was charged after being found guilty of being involved in the Babington Plot. The1586 plan involved the plot to assassinate her cousin Queen Elizabeth I, so that she could take the throne. 

She was sentenced to death, despite arguing that she had not had access to legal council, had not been able to review the evidence, and also had never been the subject of England, having been from Scotland.

Juan Carlos I 

Oh, you thought we were just going to talk about the British, didn’t you? Nope. Even the former Spanish king Juan Carlos I has had his fair share of legal trouble after an inquiry was launched in 2020 to figure out if he had been involved in a €6.7bn deal with Saudi Arabia’s construction of a high-speed rail line between Medina and Mecca by a Spanish consortium. 

Queen Victoria’s eldest son was also one who had a run in with police. However, this playboy was investigated whilst holding the title of Prince of Wales as a witness to the baccarat scandal. This was an illegal game of gambling in 1890 that became known to the public when a player outed other players when he himself was accused of cheating. Princess Anne 

Princess Anne, sister to the King, has had a couple of run ins with the law. However, it all comes from her speedy ways. At 21, she was warned for speeding 90mph on the M1, five years later, she was fined £40 at Alfreton magistrates court for doing 96mph in a 70mph zone in Derbyshire, then in 1990 she was banned from driving for a month and ordered to pay a £150 fine at a magistrates court in Gloucestershire for two additional speeding offences. 

But she wasn’t done. In 2001, Anne was fined £400, then another £30 costs and given five points on her driving licence for breaking a 70mph limit, going 93mph before once again being pulled up one year later for breaking the Dangerous Dogs Act after her three-year-old bull terrier bit two children in Windsor Great Park. Like father, like daughter. In 2019, Prince Philip collided with another vehicle near the Sandringham estate in Norfolk, leaving the 97-year-old Duke of Edinburgh banned from driving. 

Prince Charles 

Prince Charles had once been pulled into the interview room by police and questioned over allegations that he had plotted to kill the late Princess Diana. 

According to the Daily Mail’s 2021 article, former Metropolitan police commissioner, John Stevens, claimed the King had been interviewed in 2005 due to a note Diana had written alleging she could be killed so Charles could marry their children’s nanny at the time.
