The White House has reacted to Mark Ruffalo's comments about JD Vance and Donald Trump.

Last night, while on the red carpet at the Golden Globes, Ruffalo was interviewed by USA Today and was quizzed about the 'BE GOOD' pin he was wearing to accompany his tuxedo.

"This is for Renee Nicole Good, who was murdered," the actor said.

Good was the 37-year-old woman who was fatally shot by ICE officer Jonathan Ross in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on January 7.

Ross was part of the raids going on in Good's neighborhood and video footage shows her behind the wheel of her car. An officer tries to open the car door, but Good attempted to speed off, prompting Ross to fire at her.

In the wake of Good's death and its circumstances, Ruffalo wore the 'BE GOOD' pin alongside several other celebrities at the awards night. The Department of Homeland Security has defended the ICE officer's actions, claiming that Good tried to run over the officer and his use of force was justified.

While explaining the significance of his pin, Ruffalo also had some strong words, accusing Vice President JD Vance of 'lying about what's happening'.

Turning his attention to Trump, the actor continued to rant: "We're in the middle of a war with Venezuela that we illegally invaded. [Trump's] telling the world that international law doesn't matter to him.

"The only thing that matters to him is his own morality, but the guy is a convicted felon; a convicted rapist."

"He's a pedophile," Ruffalo continued. "He's the worst human being. If we're relying on this guy's morality for the most powerful country in the world, then we're all in a lot of trouble."

For context, Trump was convicted on 34 felony counts for falsifying business records in May 2024 (via The Independent). That same year, he was also found liable for sexually abusing E. Jean Carroll in 1996 by a jury; however, he wasn't convicted due to it being a civil suit.

Trump has also never been charged with a sex crime, including pedophilia.

Steven Cheung, Assistant to the President and White House Director of Communications, has responded to Ruffalo's comments.

He penned on Twitter alongside a Page Six article about Ruffalo and other stars making anti-ICE remarks: "Poor thing Mark Ruffalo, star of She-Hulk, is one of the worst actors in the business.

"More impressively, he's an even worse human being by spewing outright lies because deep down inside, he hates himself for knowingly subjecting the public to his god awful performance."

People have joked that ICE officers 'can't handle the ice' after a video of an officer slipping has gone viral.

ICE officers have been deployed to various parts of the US in recent months but it's their work in Minneapolis, Minnesota, that's now made news headlines across the globe.

On January 7, an ICE officer fatally shot a 37-year-old mom who was behind the wheel of her car. Some have alleged that the woman, who has been named publicly as Renee Nicole Good, tried to mow down an officer but others have insisted that she was simply trying to drive away.

The agent who shot Good has now been identified as Jonathan Ross. The 43-year-old lives in Minneapolis and is believed to have been part of ICE since 2015. Ross, who served in Iraq in 2004 and 2005, is also a member of the local SWAT team and the FBI's anti-terrorism task force.

Vice President JD Vance has said that Ross has 'absolute immunity' when it comes to any criminal charges.

It's not just Ross that has been the subject of scrutiny from American citizens, but all ICE officers — particularly those in Minneapolis at the moment.

One member of the public was filming the moment an ICE officer ran towards anti-ICE protestors who were shouting things when they slipped on a patch of ice, sparking applause and laughter from everyone who saw it.

The moment was caught on camera and posted online. At the time of writing, the viral clip has been upvoted 55,000 times on Reddit.

Reacting to the video, one Redditor wrote: "The pure JOY of the bystanders is excellent. They needed that laugh!"

"Ice assaulting ice," quipped another.

A third added: "He couldn’t have possibly looked like more of an idiot. This is perfect. It’s just too bad we can’t see his face."

It was also hailed as a 'classic blunder' for someone to attempt to run in Minnesota this time of year.

Elsewhere, people questioned why the officer was running in the first place.

Noting this, one user said: "Who was this guy even chasing after? Was he trying to tackle someone and then decided it wasn't worth it out of embarrassment?"

Another questioned: "What exactly was he attempting? To intimidate and terrorize."

"Whatever made him run wasn’t that important, I guess," suggested a different person, as someone else added: "I don’t understand, what the hell was he planning on doing?"

Mark Ruffalo had some stern words for the president and his current handling of world affairs.

Last night marked this year's Golden Globes, and celebrities flocked to Los Angeles to attend the star-studded ceremony at the Beverley Hills Hotel.

Waking up this morning in the UK, it's safe to say there was a lot to unpack from last night's festivities: from Jennifer Lawrence's racy dress and Snoop Dogg's censored comment, to a supposedly 'tense' exchange between lovebirds Timotheé Chalamet and Kylie Jenner.

Away from these moments, though, there's something else you may have noticed, and that was people sporting a 'BE GOOD' pin.

The pins were in support of Renee Good, a 37-year-old woman who was fatally shot by an ICE officer in Minneapolis last week.

One person wearing one of the pins was Marvel star Mark Ruffalo, who was asked about the badge while on the red carpet. Speaking to USA Today while addressing the pin, Ruffalo said: "This is for Renee Nicole Goode, who was murdered."

Going on to discuss the state America's currently in, JD Vance, and President Donald Trump, the Spotlight star said: "We have a vice president who's lying about what's happening.

As well as the pin being for Renee Good, Ruffalo said it was for 'people in the United States who are terrorized and scared today', adding that he was 'one of them'.

"I love this country. And what I'm seeing here happening is not America," he concluded his statement.

As well as Ruffalo, Wanda Sykes sported a pin too.

Addressing the small accessory, she told Variety that we need to 'shut this rogue government down'. "It's awful what they are doing to people," Sykes added during the interview with Variety.

The badges in question have been endorsed by the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), who helped organize the protest pins alongside Maremoto, Move On, National Domestic Workers Alliance, and Working Families Power.

They said in a joint statement: "The #BeGood campaign aims to honor Renée Macklin Good and Keith Porter while also reminding us what it means to be good to one another in the face of such horror—to be a good citizen, neighbor, friend, ally and human."

An off-duty ICE officer fatally shot Keith Porter on December 31 in Northridge, LA.

Supposedly, Porter was holding a gun at the time, but his family have denied that this was the case, The Los Angeles Times reported.

A specific detail in the footage of Renee Nicole Good shortly before she was shot and killed by an ICE officer has been highlighted by an expert.

Good, 37, was killed by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent on 7 January, after which the Department of Homeland Security described her as a 'violent rioter' who allegedly tried to 'weaponise' her vehicle in attempts to run over ICE agents.

The law enforcement agents were carrying out raids on the Minneapolis area under orders from Donald Trump, with his administration calling the late mum a 'domestic terrorist'.

Footage of Good being shot has circulated online, with the US citizen being fatally wounded while in her vehicle. Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey said on Wednesday: “They're already trying to spin this as an action of self-defence.

“Having seen the video myself, I want to tell everybody ‌directly - that is bulls**t.”

The shooting has sparked mass protests across the country, with the unarmed 37-year-old being gunned down by Ross in actions which have been defended by the Department of Homeland Security.

They said that ICE agents are 'trained to use the minimum amount of force necessary to resolve dangerous situations to prioritise safety', though President Trump called the late Good a 'professional agitator'.

Dr. G Explains, a clinical and forensic psychologist known for his content on YouTube, has now reviewed footage of Good's final moments.

Focusing on her hands in particular, he pointed out that she turned her steering wheel left, 'preparing for action... preparing to leave', with her tyres also pointing to the left. In the video, her brake and reverse lights are on, meaning there was a plan to escape the scene when possible, though the doctor said that adrenaline would have been pumping through her body.

Good came across calm and composed, though her intention was to leave the scene. But when Good's wife tries to get into the car at the same time an ICE agent is pulling on the driver's side door, things start to escalate.

Dr G points out that Renee tried to reverse while her wife's hand was still on the handle of the locked car door, which he thinks indicates her lack of awareness of the situation.

And a subtle sign in Renee's hands could indicate she was trying to drive away rather than attempt to harm the ICE agent.

He went on: "As soon as she put her car out of reverse, as soon as she started moving forward, then she started turning her steering wheel. "Her tyres are going to be aiming directly ahead temporarily because she has not fully turned them to the right."

Dr G said the 37-year-old went into a 'flight state'. This is why we see her flee the scene so quickly, which results in her clipping an ICE agent with her vehicle before being shot and killed by him.

He said that from the ICE agent's perspective, the car would likely have looked to have been aimed directly at him. More details have since been revealed about the case, as Rep. Eric Swalwell said at a House Judiciary Committee hearing that images revealed what was in her glove compartment.

Speaking to the room, he said: “She had a baby to go home to.

“A six-year-old who is now orphaned, who lost his father two years ago.”

He noted that the glove compartment resembled one 'of many parents across the country', as it wasn't filled with weapons, but with stuffed animals.

Swalwell stated: “Not a terrorist,” adding in the direction of ICE agent supporters: “You want to root on, and cheer for her being shot in the face three times?”

Donald Trump inadvertently read a private document out loud during a press conference.

The president, 79, had been discussing plans for Venezuela's enormous oil reserves, the largest proven reserves in the world. Shortly after this meeting, the US bombed the Venezuelan capital Carácas and special forces detained the Venezuelan president Nicolás Maduro, who is now facing charges in New York.

During the meeting, Trump was handed a note by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio which was not supposed to be read out aloud. But the president seemingly didn't get the memo on that particular element, instead reading it aloud to the room.

Trump's threat to NATO

After taking the note, Trump said: "Marco just gave me a note."

He then read it out to the room in an extraordinary blunder. It said: ”Go back to Chevron. They want to discuss something.”

Trump added: "Go ahead, I’m going back to Chevron. Thank you, Marco."

This was referring to oil giant Chevron, who currently produce around 150,000 barrels of oil per day in Venezuela, according to CNN.

Chevron is one of many oil companies in talks with the White House about potential investment into oil infrastructure in Venezuela, and is one of the more developed companies in the country.

Nonetheless, some reports suggest that Trump is coming up against more pushback than expected from oil companies who are less keen to invest in Venezuela than he might have wanted. Big factors in this include continuing instability in the region, as well as Carácas previously seizing US oil assets in Venezuela. But the meeting showed that Venezuela is not the only foreign territory seemingly in Trump's sights, as he also reiterated his desire to seize Greenland from Denmark, citing national security concerns that if he doesn’t ‘do something on Greenland’ then Russia or China would.

Trump made threats to take action in Greenland ‘whether they like it or not', raising serious questions about the future of NATO if the US acts aggressively towards other member states.

The president also took time away from the press to look out of the window at construction on the ballroom he ordered - a project which required historic parts of the White House to be demolished.

"If the fake news would like to take a look, you can," he said. "You’ll see a very big foundation we are moving. We are ahead of schedule on the ballroom and under budget."

After taking his seat again, he added: "I don’t think there will be anything like it in the world, actually."

Billionaire Bill Ackman has controversially donated thousands of dollars to a fundraiser organised in support of the ICE agent who fatally shot a mother-of-three.

The wealthy hedge fund manager confirmed that he is the 'top donator' on the GoFundMe which was set up to 'help' Jonathan Ross in wake of the incident which has rocked the US.

The shock shooting of Renee Good has received widespread condemnation and sparked mass protests across the country - but the Trump administration branded her a 'domestic terrorist'.

The unarmed 37-year-old was gunned down by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent Ross in Minneapolis, Minnesota last Wednesday (7 January).

Officials have accused the late mum of 'weaponising' her car and attempting to run over officers as they carried out raids in her neighbourhood.

The Department of Homeland Security defended Ross' actions, saying that ICE agents are 'trained to use the minimum amount of force necessary to resolve dangerous situations to prioritise safety'. Good's death has sparked mass debate about the conduct of ICE officers - although President Donald Trump branded her a 'professional agitator', while Vice President JD Vance has said that Ross would have 'absolute immunity' from any charges.

A GoFundMe was launched in support of the military veteran who fired the fatal shot, which has so far received thousands of donations. At the time of writing, it had racked up $346,729 of its $550,000 goal.

A large chunk of this comes from Ackman, who admitted that he was the 'William Ackman' who was listed as the top donator.

Speculation surrounding who was behind the $10,000 (£7,427) pledge to the GoFundMe erupted online on Sunday (11 January), before Ackman owned up to it.

The 59-year-old, who boasts a net worth of $9.3 billion according to Forbes, later shared a post to X explaining that he had also planned to offer some financial support to a fundraiser set up for Good. Last Friday (9 January), the GoFundMe page for the mum was officially closed for further donations after a whopping $1,500,000 was raised. Ackman claimed that he missed the deadline to donate.

In the social media post, the CEO and founder of Pershing Square Capital Management said: "I am big believer in our legal principal that one is innocent until proven guilty.

"To that end, I supported the @gofundme for Jonathan Ross and intended to similarly support the gofundme for Renee Good’s family (her gofundme was closed by the time I attempted to provide support).

"The whole situation is a tragedy. An officer doing his best to do his job, and a protester who likely did not intend to kill the officer but whose actions in a split second led to her death.

"Our country is stronger if we work together to resolve the complex issues that are tearing us apart."

It is not the first time that Ackman has put his hand in his deep pockets in wake of a significant incident, as he recently donated $99,999 to a GoFundMe for Bondi Beach hero Ahmed al Ahmed.

In wake of the assassination of Charlie Kirk in September last year, the billionaire also offered up $1 million as a reward for information leading to the identification and arrest of the person responsible. Ackman's latest charitable act has divided opinion online.

The organiser of the GoFundMe for Ross stated that they have attempted to make contact with the ICE agent in the hopes of making him the direct beneficiary of the funds that 'he deserves'.

They had previously stated that all donations would be refunded if they were unable to get in touch with Ross' family by 9 March.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent Jonathan Ross has been identified as the man who fatally shot Renee Nicole Good as she drove away in Minneapolis earlier this week.

The killing in Minnesota of Good, a mom-of-three who was unarmed, in a car filled with stuffed toys, has sparked a national conversation around whether masked and armed ICE agents are making communities less safe, with local Mayor Jacob Frey telling ICE to 'get the f**k out of' the city in the aftermath.

Fresh video footage of the incident, allegedly from the officer's phone who shot Good dead, shows the mom smiling to the ICE agent and saying cheerily 'That's fine, dude. I'm not mad at you', as she attempts to leave the scene.

Vance tells Europe to take Trump seriously

The camera pans to Good's wife, who is on the street protesting against ICE's presence in the city.

Then, when Good attempts to drive away, the officer tells her to stop and steps towards the driver's door, but as she pulls away, he fires multiple shots through the side window at Good and calls her a 'f***ing b*tch'. Despite the widespread outrage about the agency's tactics following Good's death, with many calling it murder, President Trump spoke out in defence of the ICE agent, penning on Truth Social at the time: "The woman screaming was, obviously, a professional agitator, and the woman driving the car was very disorderly, obstructing and resisting, who then violently, willfully, and viciously ran over the ICE officer, who seems to have shot her in self-defense."

Who was the ICE agent who shot and killed Renee Good?

Less than 48 hours on from Good's death, the Minnesota Star Tribune identified the shooter as veteran Jonathan Ross - who served in Iraq in 2004 and 2005.

43-year-old Ross, who was seen walking away from the shooting apparently unharmed, was identified by the paper as an active shooter and firearms instructor, as well as an ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations employee.

In addition to ICE, the military vet is also a member of the local SWAT team, as well as the FBI's anti-terrorism task force, it is reported.

Unlike the thousands of recruits who have more than doubled ICE's ranks since Trump assumed office 12 months ago, Ross had been working for the enforcement agency since 2015, when he first moved to Minneapolis. Before this move, Ross had spent eight years working for the Border Patrol, where his role was to 'develop the targets, create a target package, surveillance, and then develop a plan to execute the arrest warrant', according to testimony obtained by Wired.

A 'Christian conservative'

Ross was described by family and friends as a hardcore Christian conservative who, like many in the movement, frequently sports 'don't tread on me' references and Trump stickers.

After reports emerged that Ross was married to someone of Filipino heritage, the 80-year-old father of the ICE agent told the Daily Mail that his wife is a US citizen and that the couple have been married since 2012, but he refused to say anything else.

With intense national scrutiny of what took place on Wednesday, several White House officials, including Vice President JD Vance, have cited a prior serious incident as a seemingly mitigating factor for the fatal shooting. In June 2025, Ross was dragged approximately 300 ft by a vehicle while carrying out an immigration arrest in Bloomingdale, Minnesota. The driver had refused to roll down his window, leading the veteran officer to smash his window in an attempt to unlock the door.

The BBC reports that as a result of the incident, Ross required a total of 33 stitches in his right arm and left hand and had to fill out a deposition in December, from which a lot of this information has been gleaned.

He described how lots of people appear 'confused' when they are stopped in their vehicle by masked armed agents.

His testimony reads: “I believe it's—it seems to be something that some people just—just say to—to stall.

“I believe a lot of time people are on the phone and they're waiting for people to get—to show up, especially with our line of work. They've got phone trees where they call and then protesters show up.”
